A 15th-century fort located in the Arad area of Bahrain, the fort was built during the 15th century before the Portuguese invasion of Bahrain in AD 1622. Arad Fort is one of the compact defensive forts in the Kingdom and in its current location, it overlooks various sea passages of Muharraq’s shallow shores. The shape of the fort is square except every corner has a cylindrical tower and it is surrounded by a small trench which used to be filled with water from wells that were drilled especially for this purpose.
